Melbourne is the state capital of Victoria, and sits adjacent to the natural beauty of Port Phillips Bay on the south coast of Australia. For an indication of size, the state of Victoria is approximately the same size as the United Kingdom, but there is certainly much more room here.

The main water feature of Melbourne is actually the Yarra River, as seen in the picture (left), upon the banks of which the city was born. Today it is the setting for many delightful walks and cycle paths along with water sport activities such as kayaking, water-skiing and rowing.
The population of some 3.5 million people are spread out into the many suburbs that make up the city, and the diversity of cultures that have been brought together here have blended well to create the friendly city that it is. These different cultures have also led to a plethora of excellent restaurants, providing the finest foods from around the globe. Many of these are located in the hotels spread around the city that cater for the needs of the city’s many visitors.
